The Research Centre

The focus of the CHA’s research directorate is the development of the research teams by taking full advantage of the synergy of all its complementary elements.
The March 2009 Quebec Health Research Fund (Fonds de la recherche en santé du Québec – FRSQ) evaluation testified to the Center’s level of excellence by renewing its funding for the period from 2009 to 2013.

The Center is a dynamic, stimulation working environment which:

  • brings together 188 researchers
  • employs 166 people
  • trains more than 150 students per year
  • generates an annual research budget of $12 M
  • produces more than 300 publications, reports and presentations annually

International Influence

The Research Center is currently in a period of remarkable development, to which its presence on the national and international stages bears witness.  Most of the Center’s researchers work in collaboration with research groups in the United States, Europe or Asia.

Approaches and Consequences

  • Recognised expertise in the domain of epidemiology
  • First-class resources in evaluative research in several domains
  • Initiation of a fundamental research program in breast disease

Tissue Engineering and Regeneration

  • Approach based on fundamental research
  • Research oriented by and towards clinical application
  • Major funding ($25 M) obtained for the construction of new research laboratory facilities dedicated to tissue engineering

Aging

  • Diversified approach: epidemiological, evaluative and clinical research

Traumatology – Emergency Medicine – Intensive Care

  • Evaluation of the traumatology and emergency network organisation
  • Epidemiological follow-up of major trauma victims

Clinical Research
